It is the intent o~' the proposed
dcvelol')ment to hage some units fi'onting on County Highway #116. At their March 27, 2003
meeting, the Town Center Task Force discussed the possibility of changing tine name of Highway
fill6 fi'om Industry Avenue. The Task Force decided to recommend changing the name of
Flighway #116 (Industry Avenue) to Bunker Lake Boulevard. The Task Force felt that the name
o1" Inclustry Avenue no longer was appropriate given the proposed Town Center development.
They also ['elt tlnat tim rlarrle change would bring Ramsey into conformance with what County
[-lighway #116 is named in the rest of Anoka County. There would be 23 properties that
currently have addresses on Industry Avenue. Staff proposed that the name change take effect
w/thin a year of official City Council action on tine name change in order to give these property
owners time to make thc necessary changes to reflect the renaming of County Highway #116.
'Fine prOl>osed name change will need to be passed by City Ordinance after a public hearing.

Motion by Councilmember Zimmerlnan, seconded by Courtcilmember Cook, to attthorize staffto
advertise and schedule a public hearing for the proposed name change of County Highway #116
l?rom Industry Avenue to Bunker Lake Boulevard.

l?urther discussion: Councilmerr~ber Elvig inquired if there was any reason to suggest East or
West. Mayor Gamec replied that that is something that staff can look into.-He suggested that
they make the request that the name be changed in the stretch of road from Round Lake
I3oulevard to C.R..//7. Councilmember Pearson questioned the cost to the City to have tlne name
change. City Administrator Nol'man explained that the post oflqce has been very good with
working with name changes. In the past, businesses or residents have claimed a lot of costs so the
City has stated that il' they bring l:orward any costs after a year they would cover those costs;
however, no one has ever come fbrward.

Motion carried. 'Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, and Councilmembers Zinamernaan, Cook, Elvig,
Kurak, Pearson, and Strommen.
