Authorizing Transfer from Equipment Replacement Fund for thc Purchase of <br />Computers <br />The Finance Committee recommended that tile City Council authorize the transfer of up to <br />$15,000 fi'om tile Equipment Replacement Fund for the pumhase of desktop computers. <br /> <br />Councihnember Kurak inquired if the old computers will be declared excess equipment. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson replied 5,es, noting that they do not expect to receive a lot of <br />revenue ["rom the computers. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamcc recommended that they check with tile school district to see if there was a need for <br />the computers. <br /> <br />Councilmcmber Cool< stated that in addition to a three-year replacement plan, staff should also <br />look at a yearly upgrade as well. <br /> <br />Mol ion by Cotmcihnember Strommen, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to adopt Resolution <br />#03-05-118 to authorize the transfer of up to $]5,000 from the Equipment Replacement Fund for <br />the p u rch a se o I' cie sl<to p co m pure rs. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />3) P, cvicw ot' Charges fi'om Champlin Towing <br />'l~hc Finance Conqmiltee recommended that tile City Council derby tile payment of $o.2,991.52 <br />requested by Champlin Towing for services provided to the City from August 9, 2000 to April <br />17, 2003. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich stated that it was his understanding that the City received the services, <br />but there was an understanding that tile City would not be billed for tile services from Champlin <br />Towing since the towing company was being given the opportunity to cio the City's other work <br />but al this time he did not have enough information to give a legal opinion. <br /> <br />Councilmelnber Elvig stated that when the City received a request for proposals frolll Champlin <br />Towing; one o1: tile key components was that they would not charge for those types ol~ services if <br />they would have been granted the contract. <br /> <br />Mayor Garnec suggested that the City Attorney review the information and then forward a letter <br />to Champlin Towing explaining that they are denying payment of the charges. <br /> <br />Motion by Cottncilmember Cool<, seconded by Councilmember Strommen, to adopt Resolution <br />#03-05-119 denying payment of statemefit dated April 30, 2003 from Champlin Towing and <br />direct tine City Attorn%, to respond t-o the statement. <br /> <br />P70 <br /> <br />City Council/May 1.3, 2003 <br />Page 26 of 29 <br /> <br /> <br />
