7O January 31, 2003 Mr. Michael Nixt Chairman Ramsey planning Commission Mr. Nixt: As I am unable to attend the regular Planning Commission meetbg'on February · 6, 2003,. I would appreciate the opportunity to express some concerns about the process dealing with the "Village of Sunfish Lake". My comments reflect the concerns of the Engineering Department. and all Public Safety Departments including Public Works, Police and Fire. As a group we feel the action before you on the February:6th meeting is. premature. We feel there has not been adequate time spent to totally digest the implications of the deviations to our current city codes and specifications proposed to you in this case. All departments listed'above express the desire to work together to negotiate a plan that allows for creative development while not compromising the essential services that all our current and future residents will expect day in and day out. I am extremely confident that given time we as staff can. come to a proposal that is a win-win situation as compared to the current proposal that many deem unacceptable. I suggest the case before you be tabled or postponed until your March meeting. My personal commitment'to your group is that staff listed above V~ill make this issue a high priority to assure that the March proposal would be from staff as a whole, rather than only a portion. As in the past l remain appreciative of your groups efforts to keep development and public safety in an acceptable working balance.
