I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that he thought the proposed development looked great. <br /> <br />Mr. Peterson stated that he would be shocked if they had any strong objection from any of the <br />neighbors. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson inquired if.the property owners will have an option as to what trees <br />will stay and what will be removed. <br /> <br />Mr. Peterson replied that they are planning'having the lots be custom graded to minimize the tree <br />loss. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak stated that she appreciated Mr. Peterson's efforts as a developer in the <br />City and working with neighbors, saving the trees, and willingness to applY restricted covenants <br />on those buffering trees. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman stated that they needed to let the development go through the <br />process and not give an opinion until the public hearing has been held.. <br /> <br />2) Plants and Things <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman stated that he had spoken with the Council during a work session in <br />July regarding a development plan for the Plants and Things site. Staff has received a response <br />from the owners of Plants and Things that they are not wi_'lling to make a commitment at this <br />time. Staff has a lack of trust with working with Mr. Hickman because of past iristances. The <br />concern staff has is that Mr. Hickman has no plans and that the existing buildings will remain. <br />Staff has discussed the issue of placing the property within the proposed moratorium with the <br />City Attorney and the Attorney has indicated that placing the property in a moratorium is enough <br />action to stop future development· plans without the City having to start condemnation action. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that that corner has been a prOblem for along time. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman stated that something has to be done with Highway #10 in the near' <br />future because they have no secondary road to back up Highway #10. ~ <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that there has been a long hiStory of broken promises on the <br />Plants and Things property. His concern is that any commitment that might be made they have- <br />to view with a certain amount of skepticism.
