Position Title: Building Inspector II Justification: The reclassification is being created to acknowledge the increased expertise and responsiblities of a current employee. Retention of inspectors is relatively low, as there is a lot of movement of inpsectors between the metro cities. Majority of the moves are because of pay and professional growth opportunities. This is an opportunity to create a position that promotes professional growth within the city with employee retention in mind. Building Inspector ll positions are relatively common in the metro area. Some cities in close proximity include E1k River, Rogers, and Brooklyn Park. Description: Assists Building Official with reviews and inspections for both commercial and residential buildings. In the absence of the Building Official, this position is responsible for making code interpretations and determinations in accordance with applicable codes. Position must have Building Official Certification from the State of MN, certification as a Subsurface Seweage Treatment Inspection by the MPCA, requires a minimum of 3 — 5 years of experience and possess the ability to teach, train and provide work direction to the Building Inspectors/Plans Examiniers. Position Title: Civil Engineer I Justification: Logan is currently an Engineer -In -Training after previously passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam. This means Logan must be supervised by a Minnesota -licensed Professional Engineer while preparing construction documents such as permits, plans, and specifications. Logan is preparing to take the Professional Engineers examination (PE exam) in late June of 2026. Upon successfully passing the PE exam, Logan will become a licensed Professional Engineer allowing him to sign construction plans, specifications and documents on behalf of the city. Description: As a licensed PE, Logan can independently prepare and sign all construction plans, specifications and documents on behalf of the City of Ramsey.
