Position Title: Building Maintenance Seasonal Worker <br />Justification: Building Maintenance workers require assistance with general groundskeeping <br />duties at city hall, the parking ramp, and cemeteries from mid -May through mid -September to <br />allow building maintenance duties to be completed in a timely manner. <br />Description: Assist with groundskeeping duties at city hall, the parking ramp, and cemeteries <br />from mid -May through mid -September. <br />Posi io Title: Happy Days & Special Events Recreation Intern <br />Justification: This position was originally requested in 2026 and denied; however, the <br />operational need for it has increased significantly. The Parks and Recreation Department is <br />requesting this temporary intern to support programming, events, and administrative work during <br />the department's busiest season and due to turnover. The role is essential to alleviating workload <br />pressures and limiting overtime costs. <br />Plans are currently underway for a reorganization within Public Works due to the anticipated <br />departure of the longtime Parks and Assistant Public Works Director in February 2027. As part <br />of this transition, the staffing hours for the Annual Happy Days festival, as well as other <br />recreational events during the high -demand summer season will be critically low or staffed with <br />a new employee unfamilliar with the role at the exact time when event preparation and <br />community programming require the most support. The temporary position will ensure adequate <br />coverage for Happy Days and maintain continuity of service during this transitional period. <br />Description: The Happy Days & Recreational Events Intern supports staff with seasonal <br />programs, special events, and daily department operations. Core duties include helping plan, <br />prepare, and facilitate recreation programs, along with hands-on event support such as setup, <br />staffing, and teardown. <br />For Happy Days specifically, the role requires extensive advance planning, day -of execution, and <br />post -event follow-up. Responsibilities include assisting with soliciting sponsorships, creating <br />content and maps, managing advertising, tracking sponsor funds, securing contracts, <br />coordinating vendors, gathering supplies, overseeing event setup and takedown, managing <br />budgets, purchasing prizes, recruiting volunteers, creating schedules, leading staff check -ins, <br />obtaining permits, designing shirts and promotional materials, ordering staff meals, judging <br />assigned events, coordinating the parade lineup and fireworks show, updating traffic signage, <br />collecting vendor logos, and working throughout the week leading up to and including the <br />festival day. <br />
