they can't do better and believe me we don't need their problems. #17 - It's not the
. responsibility of the city to maintain the neighborhood. It should be the residents -
that's why ownership is so important. The city should maintain parks & roads - not
neighborhoods. # 18 -Why be like other cities? Ramsey has a unique opportunity to
be unique! With nice houses, spacious lots & people that have a achieved a certain
amount of self worth & success. Keep problems to a minimum by encouraging self
reliance. #19 - Transportation is not the city's responsibility other than roads. A car
or bus is not a right. If you are an adult you should be able to figure out how to get
where you are going. #20 The survey seems to be one sided by encouraging
response for higher density and lower income. I strongly encourage you to listen to
the residents that have lived here forever! They in general do not want townhouses,
apartments, shopping etc. They would prefer either no change or if change is
inevitable that it be done with respect to spacious lots and well maintained preferably
nice single family homes. We like rural Ramsey and don't see why we have to be a
Coon Rapids or a North Minneapolis. Why can't we be a Ramsey. If we don't invite
the worthless we don't need help- money etc. from the Met Council because we won't
have the problems.
o Keep lots at 1-2 acres per household. Do not cram 3-4 houses on an acre.
o Ramsey is, or was, a small town - near country - area. This was the reason we moved
here. Leave this aspect as is. We did not move to Minneapolis or St. Paul for a
reason. Stop the rapid - big city - growth. We don't need to pack as many houses and
businesses into as little space as possible. Leave the rural conservation area as is.
o No Comment - Not sure.
o Middle to upper middle income level housing so we can preserve what most of us
moved out here for, which it's the large lot sizes and green space. I am totally against
the high density housing developments that are being built everywhere. Why do we
have to have cookie cutter townhouse developments that are a total eyesore! Let's get
the roadwork needs addressed before we add thousands more people and cars into the
mix. Development of a young city is necessary and important, but it must be done
correctly with respect to the land available by maintain wetlands and wooded areas.
Listen to what the residents of Ramsey would like to see in the future development of
their city. I moved here 20 years ago for the space peace & quiet, and the rural
feeling that Ramsey offered. That is all rapidly being eroded and we are quickly
becoming a sprawling housing development. I would like to see any future
developments maintain a minimum of 1-1 1/2 acre lot size so we can preserve what
Ramsey can still be. Thank you.
o Keep out the riffraffby not bringing in any more low income or rental property.
Also multi unit neighborhoods. All housing in Ramsey should remain single-family
2+ acres.
o Single family homes - 1 acre or more per house. Next survey make more
understandable. For instance 1. do you want multi-family housing built in the City of
Ramsey --yes ~o.
o Keeping taxes down so we can afford to stay.
o Ramsey is growing way to fast. The taxes keep going up for people on a fixed
Income.

14
