Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #26-179 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE POLICE CHIEF TO APPLY FOR THE FFY27 <br />TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT GRANT, AUTHORIZING THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR <br />TO EXECUTE THE GRANT AGREEMENT, AND APPROVING A LETTER OF <br />SUPPORT <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety, has <br />issued a Request for Proposals for the FFY27 Traffic Enforcement Grant; and <br />WHEREAS, the grant provides funding for overtime enforcement focused on impaired <br />driving, speeding, distracted driving, move -over violations, seat belt and child -restraint use, and <br />pedestrian safety; and <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of these enforcement and education efforts is to deter unsafe <br />driving, hold violators accountable, reduce crashes, injuries, deaths, and property damage, and <br />help more people return home safely to their families; and <br />WHEREAS, in prior grant years, the City of Ramsey served as the fiscal and host <br />agency for a countywide traffic enforcement grant involving participating Anoka County law <br />enforcement agencies; and <br />WHEREAS, beginning in FFY27, the Office of Traffic Safety requires each participating <br />law enforcement agency to apply individually, and joint applications are no longer permitted; and <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police Department desires to submit an application for funding <br />to support highly visible traffic enforcement and public education within the City of Ramsey; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to provide a letter expressing its support for the <br />Ramsey Police Department's grant application and proposed traffic -safety efforts. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />1. The Police Chief, or designee, is authorized to prepare and submit an application on <br />behalf of the City of Ramsey for the FFY27 Traffic Enforcement Grant. <br />2. If grant funding is awarded, the City Administrator is authorized to execute the grant <br />agreement, certifications, assurances, and other documents necessary to accept and <br />administer the grant on behalf of the City. <br />3. The City Administrator is further authorized to execute amendments, modifications, or <br />extensions to the grant agreement, provided they do not materially alter the approved <br />project or create an additional unbudgeted financial obligation for the City. <br />
