Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos indicated it is not to the quality he would like it to be at. Commissioner Rolfe inquired if Staff would be able to put all the information together in time. Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos commented he would be able to get the information together in time. Chairperson Johns added another thing they should include would be the Recreation District map. Commissioner Shryock commented she would like to have a map showing what kind of trails they have or where they are headed. Commissioner Olds indicated if they just had the major roads identified instead of the property lots. Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos stated the brochures provided for the simpler larger road system and even in the larger maps, the details were starting to get great and people get confused and they could get the simpler 11"x17" maps made in black or white. Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos noted the gym at the school opens at 8:00 a.m. or 9:00 a.m. on May 3, 2003. Case #4: Consider Lawful Gambling Fund For Ramsey's Tree Books Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos explained for many years, the Commission has maintained the lawful gambling improvement program and from that money, one element of the Park Commissions Capital Improvement Program is funded. In addition, for several years there has been a line item that has generally been $5,000.00 that is held out to encourage matches from the Community and viewed as a one to one matching grant program. Notable improvements have been landscape improvements to Lake Itasca, benches, trash receptacles, the batting cage at Central Park as well as other proposals that did not proceed. He stated there are two proposals on the table, the first is undefined, which is looking at the landscape improvements to the north area of Emerald Pond Park with mention of a small kiosk used as a park information sign or neighborhood bulletin board. He did not think a great deal of cash would be involved, one to two thousand dollars perhaps. Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos explained that the Environmental Policy Task Force has been working on a number of things associated with the tree ordinance. An important part of urban forestry is educating and making appropriate tree choices for tree planting. He stated they want to prepare a Trees for Ramsey book to talk about these types of things and one of the things they wanted to have available was some copies for the environmental expo but they ran into a funding glitch and they wanted to have somewhat durable books and about $1,200.00 would be needed for that. He stated he has not researched the grant program to see if this is disallowed but would like the Commission to consider funding the lawful gambling programs use for a not to exceed amount of $1,400.00 for this, if there is no concerns with funding.
