Ms. Kushner noted that when considering external interim city administrator candidates she would suggest that interviews be conducted and that the City request references from elected officials and others. She also thought that a "go ogle" search could be conducted and City staff could speak with other HR professionals regarding a candidate's management style. Topic #2: Discussion with City Administrator Council member Strommen stated that the primary purpose of the meeting with City Administrator Norman was to discuss pending projects that would need to be transferred to other staff members. City Administrator Norman stated that he would provide Transition Team members with a matrix of pending projects by December 8, 2006. Transition Team members asked for City Administrator Norman's input on the city administrator search. City Administrator Norman stated that he expected that the City would need an interim administrator for six to nine months. He offered that he believed the interim administrator should not be allowed to compete for the long term position and that the City Council could promote from within in lieu of appointing an interim, if they chose to do so. Transition Team members decided to speak with Assistant City Administrator Nelson again to get a clearer understanding of her interest in the interim and long term positions. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Councilmember Olson, seconded by Councilmember Elvig, to adjourn the regular meeting of the Transition Team. Motion carried.
