<br />· Community Ecology: February 22,2006 <br />· Innovative Zoning: March 25 or March 29,2006 <br />· Transportation Alternatives: April 12, 2006 <br /> <br />Community Development Director Trudgeon explained subsequent to the forums, the City will <br />host a vtsioning session utilizing Open Space Technology (OST), an innovative public <br />participation process. The visioning process will allow for all participants to discuss what makes <br />Ramsey great and what needs to be done to maintain the positive assets of Ramsey. This <br />visioning session is scheduled for May 4 and 5, 2006. Mr. Trudgeon informed Council of the <br />nationally renowned speakers scheduled during the Ramsey3 project process. He indicated the <br />speakers for the Ramsey3 project will spend at least two days in.Rarnsey meeting with staff and <br />touring the City. <br /> <br />Ralph Brauer, member of the Ramsey3 steering comniittee, stated the OST process will be <br />framed in a positive way, asking residents about the best features of Ramsey and what can be <br />done in the future and as part of the Comprehensive Plan to see that those kinds of things <br />continue. He stated the scheduled speakers are literally the best in the world at what they do, <br />some are internationally renowned. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen stated the expectation is that the Councilmembers will put the forum <br />and OST dates on their calendar and plan to participate. The events will be at City Hall and the <br />results will be posted on the website. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Trudgeon indicated the last part of the Ramsel process will <br />be the implementation of the vision created in the public participation process. Staff would like <br />to utilize what is learned from the forums and the OST process to form and direct work for future <br />City planning. Ongoing commuriity engagement will be invited, and staff and policy makers will <br />be trained with the appropriate tools to sustain the process. Mr. Trudgeon reported the Ramsey3 <br />website is www.ramsev3.org. There will be a running total of the five best things about Ramsey, <br />downloads and links. Staff and the Ramsey3 steering committee welcome any suggestions the <br />Council thinks would be helpful in this process. Mr. Trudgeon stated the Ramsey3 project is <br />unique and is starting to get attention from different areas in the region. The McKnight <br />Foundation really liked the grant proposal, which is a credit to the team that drafted it. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey thanked the members of the Ramsey3 steering committee for <br />volunteering their time. He stressed the importance of putting energy behind this process and <br />getting a good mix of people to the table. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen stated the steering committee is hoping to recruit neighborhood <br />captains or community liaisons to get others involved in this process. She requested <br />Councilmembers start compiling a list of names of people they have worked with. She noted <br />they have had some citizens check in about this process already. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stressed the importance of promoting this process and getting people <br />interested.
