vehicle in the first quarter of2008. This item is included in the 2007 budget (220-6550) and will
be funded through capital equipment certificates.

Councilmember Elvig indicated the Finance Committee discussed the resale of the existing
vehicle. The purchase of this fire engine would come from the Equipment Revolving Fund and
would not be a tax burden. There is only $20,000 remaining in the first vehicle that has not been
depreciated.

Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Strommen, to ratify the
recommendation of the Finance Committee in Case No. 3 and to accept the fire engine
specifications and authorize staff to solicit bids.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Strommen, Dehen, Jeffrey,
Look, and Olson. Voting No: None.

Case #8: Report from Personnel Committee

1) Consider Authorization to Hire a Utilities Maintenance Worker

Interim City Administrator Nelson reviewed that as part of the 2007 budget, Council authorized
the creation of one new utilities maintenance worker position. Authorization to begin the
recruitment process was given on January 9, 2007 and an internal recruitment process was
conducted. Five applications were received and all five applicants were interviewed. Staff is
recommending that Jeff Erickson be hired as a utilities maintenance worker. Mr. Erickson is a
City of Ramsey fire fighter who has been with the Fire Department since July 2004. The results
of his background check and pre-employment physical and drug screen are satisfactory. With
City Council's approval, Mr. Erickson's start date will be February 28, 2007, and his starting
wage will be $17.01 per hour (2006 rate). Mr. Erickson will be subject to a six month
probationary period and all other personnel policies will apply normally.

2) Consider Authorization to Hire Part-Time Police Technician

Interim City Administrator Nelson reviewed that as part of the 2007 budget, Council authorized
the creation of one new part-time police technician position. Authorization to begin the
recruitment process was given on January 9, 2007 and an internal recruitment process was
conducted. Two applications were received and both applicants were interviewed. Staff is
recommending that Kristen Reider be hired as the City's new part-time police technician. Ms.
Reider is an intern/volunteer in the Police Department and she has worked in this capacity since
June 2006. The results of Ms. Reider's background check and pre-employment physical and
drug screen are satisfactory. Ms. Reider will be
subject to a six month probationary period and all other personnel policies will apply normally.

Councilmember Jeffrey stated it was the recommendation of the Personnel Committee that Case
Nos.
