Commissioner Hansen wondered if there have been any other companIes or health clubs
approach the City for a joint center.

Civil Engineer Linton indicated a lot of these companies look at how close their other facilities
are to the proposed site along with demographics ofthe area and if it would be feasible.

Commissioner Barr thought they may need to wait for their community to grow before getting
something in, which may take a few years.

Motion by Commissioner Shryock, seconded by Commissioner Erickson, to leave the decision
up to the City Council for funding this year and then next year to bank the funds for a similar
type of facility in the City of Ramsey.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Acting Chairperson aIds, Commissioners Shryock, Erickson, Barr,
Hanson and LaMere. Voting No: None. He also noted there are not a lot of kids living in the area. He
noted Ramsey School Rink area would also be a nice spot but he thought it may be hard to get
approval because of School District concerns and planning.

Acting Chairperson aIds wondered if Traprock would work. He thought the area was starting to
build up and there .are trails nearby. The reason he was thinking about this is because of where
Oak Grove has their skate park where there is nothing around.

ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood indicated there are not a good network of trails connecting
this park, however, and there is not anything there.

Commissioner Shryock wondered if it could be proposed at Alpine.

ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood stated this would be the ideal spot because there are trails
all around it and large number of young people near. There are also decent vehicular site lines to
put an access and parking lot on the west side. He stated they would have value added to the
park for future use.

Commissioner Erickson thought the transition would be easier.

Park and Recreation Commission/February 8, 2007
Page 4 of6
