Commissioner Barr wondered if the Baseball Association put fencing up at Alpine Park, would
this conflict with a skate park.

ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood indicated it would not.

Commissioner Shryock thought Alpine Park would be a good spot for the skate park.

ParkslUtilities Supervisor.Riverblood reviewed Rivers Bend and the Old City Hall site with the
Commission for a possible interim skate park.

Acting Chairperson aIds thought the parking demand would not be as great as with other sports
because the majority of the users will be riding bikes.

ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood thought parking within visual proximity would be good for
parents to watch their children.

ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood indicated the Ramsey Lions asked if they would consider
having a skate camp in the tennis courts at Central Park for their picnic. He noted this would not
affect the courts negatively. He stated if they could run the numbers on some of the parks and
include some parks not on the list, it may make for better decision making at the next meeting.

Civil Engineer II Linton thought with Sweet Bay Ridge coming online, they will need to have a
park area for the new homes going in.

Commissioner Shryock stated she liked Alpine Park because it has easy access to it from a lot of
different neighborhoods.

Acting Chairperson aIds agreed and thought they should do more research for the meeting in
March.

Case #4:

Review Master Trail Plan - Trail Description Element

ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood stated as the Commission is aware; the Master Trail Plan
(MTP) is nearly complete. Remaining is the Individual Trail Descriptions, the insertion of
photos and few minor elements. The timing of the completion of this project will coincide with
the beginning of Comprehensive Plan preparation, which is conducted every 10 years. The MTP
may then be incorporated by reference within this document, and therefore portions, like the
actual Park and Trail Map, may be updated periodically.

Commissioner Shryock stated she liked the idea of breaking it up. She thought the connectivity
and inter-jurisdictional importance should be either w.ith all of the parks or with the individual
parks. She would like this brought further up in the plan.

ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood noted they will have photos for each of the trail segments
with highlights of each. He noted he has had some comments that the descriptions are too long.

Park and Recreation Commission/February 8, 2007
Page 5 of6
