CONSIDER HIRING CONSULTANT TO <br />PREPARE COMPREHENSIVE WATER STUDY <br />By: Steven J. Jankowski, City Engineer <br /> <br />PW CASE <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey has budgeted $20,000 in 1998, to perform an update of the City's <br />Comprehensive Water Study. In selecting a consultant to perform this study, a Request <br />for Qualifications was sent to the following seven engineering consulting firms: <br /> <br />Company <br />Barr Engineering <br />Bolton & Menk <br />OSM Associates, Inc. <br />Progressive Consulting Engineers, Inc. <br />S.E.H., Inc. <br />T.K.D.A. <br />Westwood Professional Services, Inc. <br /> <br />Contact <br />Mr. Steve Klein, P.E. <br />Mr. Robert Brown, P.E. <br />Mr. John Mentor, P.E. <br />Mr. Naeem Qureshi, P.E. <br />Mr. James North., P.E. <br />Mr. Dick Sobiek, P.E. <br />Mr. Tim Korby, P.E. <br /> <br />Five of these firms replied and four requests for proposals were sent. Westwood <br />Professional Services, Inc. was eliminated after reviewing the qualifications. Three firms <br />submitted written proposals and were interviewed by the Director of Public Works, the <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor and myself on Tuesday, December 7, 1998. The firm of <br />TKDA did not respond to the request for proposal due to the fact that their key staff <br />person has recently undergone back surgery and his recuperation was uncertain. The <br />firms were evaluated based upon the oral interview and written proposal based upon the <br />criteria defined in the attached Request for Proposal. <br /> <br />The results of the selection process are as follows: <br /> Firm Interview Proposal Total Store <br /> S.E.H., Inc. 4.05 ' 3.54 7.59 <br /> OSM, Inc. 4.15 3.36 7.51 <br /> Bolton & Menk 4.60 3.99 8.64 <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends retaining the finn of Bolton & Menk to perform the update of the <br />water utility comprehensive plan in an amount not to exceed $18,000. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Motion to recommend City Council retain the firm of Bolton & Menk to perform the <br />update of the water utility comprehensive plan in an amount not to exceed $18,000. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />City Engineer <br />City Administrator <br />Director of Public Works <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor <br />Finance Officer <br />PW: 12/15/98 <br /> <br />jo/WtrStd, doc <br /> <br /> <br />
