<br />Council in separate sessions and Council would already have feedback from other groups by the <br />time they meet with Ms. Sims. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec commented generally staff has not been involved in this part of the process, and <br />he does not know of any city that has done this. One option would be for Ms. Sims to talk with <br />staff after Council has set the goals. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated he respectfully disagrees. Staff has to work with this person on a <br />day to day basis; the communication style and how staff will interact with this city administrator <br />is important. He would like to hear that feedback after Ms. Sims has met with staff. His <br />perception of how a city administrator will react with the community and Council is different <br />than what staff needs every day of the week. He suggested a small facilitated meeting with <br />chairs of boards and commissions, which will provide a lot of valuable input. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen stated it was incredibly valuable for the Transition Team to meet <br />with the department heads. She suggested the input from the commission chairs could be done <br />through writing if necessary. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated having staff input is critical. <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Reed Kone indicated the Weekly Update will propose a couple <br />meeting dates to Council, and she will then speak with Ms. Sims. She requested Council to <br />inform her of others she would like to meet with Ms. Sims. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec noted the need to keep an eye on travel expenses. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig suggested business people in the City could provide an interesting <br />perspective regarding the city administrator skill sets. He suggested a handful of names be <br />targeted to obtain their input. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen questioned how the criteria would be determined to select which <br />businesses would participate in the process. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec expressed concern with selecting individual developers and businesses to be <br />involved with the process. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig requested Ms. Reed Kone provide him with the questions that will be <br />asked of those involved with the process. <br /> <br />4) Dissemination of Public Data <br /> <br />Interim Cit~ Administrator Nelson stated the topic of public data requests was discussed at the <br />January 19t and 20th Strategic Planning/Goal Setting session. Staff was asked to bring this topic <br />forward for discussion at a work session. Council has been provided with a copy of the City's <br />Guidelines and Procedures for the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act.
