replacing the mailbox and was informed the City would reimburse him $75. Mr. McClellan
stated if he were to damage City property he would expect the court to require him to make the
City whole again. $75 does not cover the material for his mailbox; some of the mailboxes in his
neighborhood go up to $400 before being put in the ground. He inquired if this policy is set in
stone. Mr. McClellan stated he has not received his newspaper since the mailbox was hit
because when they came out and put it back together the paper box was not put on.

Mayor Gamec explained the mailbox that is put up right away is a temporary box. The Public
Works Committee determined the $75 reimbursement amount as an average mailbox price.
Public Works could look at this again if Council feels they want to review it again.

Mr. McClellan stated many people have gone to the heavier gauge locking mailboxes because of
mail theft in Northfork. He questioned if he would still only receive $75 for replacement if he
had a $400 mailbox.

Mayor Gamec explained it is a set fee.

Mr. McClellan questioned why the City is not making him whole, as that is what would be
required of him.

APPROVE AGENDA

Mayor Gamec indicated Case No.6 will be amended to remove the appointment of a new board
member as requested by the applicant.

Motion by Councilmember Strommen, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey, to approve the
agenda as amended.

Motion carried.
