Burns Activity
In 2006 Ramsey and Burns committed to work together to create a 3rd fire station
in Bums Township that will not only serve Bums Township but also assist in the
northern portion of Ramsey. Staffing levels for this station will be 12 -15
firefighters and efforts to place an engine in the station are underway.
Duty Officer Response
As in the past couple of years Ramsey Fire has been utilizing a Duty Officer
Program in which a single person responds to calls such as some alarm calls,
illegal burns, permit bums, smoke detector issues or requests for information.
Code Blue Response
In 2006 the fire department began responding with police personnel to code blue
incidents. With the recent change in CPR criteria, most cases require chest
compressions for 30 minutes non -stop. In 2006 the fire department responded
with police to five code blue incidents.
FEMA Grant
The fire department made application and was awarded approximately $92,000
in a FEMA grant that includes for 15 new firefighters: turnout gear, wild
landfrescue gear, and Firefighter 1 and 1 St Responder Training. Also included is
funding for Power Point projector, screen and training materials to be stored at
fire station #1. It should be noted that the equipment and training funding for the
15 firefighters will be spread between Ramsey and Burns.
—5—
