Co I <br />Ramsey Fire Department <br />Year End Report 2006 <br />Incident Calls <br />With 496 total responses, 2006 remained at about the same level as 2005 with <br />501 responses. Historically personal injury accidents are the largest single <br />response for this department. With 119 PI responses the percentage of the total <br />calculates to 24 %. <br />2006 witnessed 15 structure fires and 14 contents fires within homes. Requests <br />for mutual aid was a record 29, most of which were included in the 23 "Auto Aid" <br />requests which include the communities of Anoka, Andover, Ramsey and Oak <br />Grove. <br />Burns activity was 28 total of which 22 were fire related and 6 personal <br />injury/extrication. <br />Enclosed are charts which display the following: <br />• Yearly incident trend 93 to present <br />• 2006 Incident breakdown <br />• Bums activity <br />Training <br />As in the past, fire department training makes up a large amount of the <br />firefighters activity throughout the year. Most months include 2 fire related drills, 1 <br />medical drill and 1 business meeting. Months with 5 Wednesday's include a <br />major maintenance drill where all equipment is maintained and operated. The <br />training level meets the requirements of OSHA, NFPA, First Responder and <br />EMT. (Emergency Medical Technician) A calendar of 2006 training is included in <br />this report. <br />Firefighter Staff <br />The on -going staffing goal has been a compliment of 40 firefighters distributed <br />evenly between the existing two stations. With the Burns effort picking up <br />momentum in 2006 there were a total of 13 new firefighters hired in November of <br />2006. Of these, six firefighters were hired for the staffing of the Burns fire station <br />along with three existing firefighters. <br />-3- <br />
