Commissioner Johns concurred and suggested having a pictorial article at the Environmental Expo.

Commissioner Ostrum asked who would be responsible for preparing this article.

Mr. Boos stated he is unsure of the deadline but he will check on it and present a draft article at the
February meeting.

Chair Cook suggested that project updates also be included.

Commissioner Droegemueller asked if a Park Commissioner will write the article or if it will be
handled by City Staff. He also asked how feedback will be handled. Mr. Boos stated he would be
happy to prepare these article but would welcome assistance from the Commissioners as well. He
stated it would be helpful to have a topic outline for future articles.

Chair Cook suggested that Commissioners write any article of interest they have which can be
reviewed during the meeting and submitted to staff for pictures, editing, etc.

Mr. Boos stated an outline will work out well and can include the meeting location schedule of the
Commission's outdoor meetings at various parks and 1998 projected activities.

COMMISSION/STAFF INPUT

Commissioner Rolfe asked what the Commission's Expo booth will contain. Commissioner Johns
suggested a three-ring book be on display that contains pictures of the parks and description of
equipment.

Mr. Boos stated the Expo meetings are still occurring and a "brag book" as suggested by
Commissioner Johns could also contain the Decisions Resource Survey, Inc. results to advise of
issues residents supported and those they did not support.

Chair Cook suggested the Expo booth also have a trail map that includes pictures of points of
interest, etc.

Mr. Boos suggested a workshop be scheduled after the February meeting to discuss this in more
detail and to arrive at a work plan. The Park and Recreation Commission concurred.

Mr. Boos noted the Radamacher development agreement which was distributed.

Commissioner Rolfe asked staffto obtain a legal opinion on the possibility of auctioning the unwanted
Peltzer Park playground structures or selling via a sealed bid. He also inquired whether a release of
liability is an option. Mr. Boos noted the cost for the legal work may outweigh the financial gain of
selling the equipment but he will request a legal opinion.

Park and Recreation Commission/January 8, 1998
Page 6 of 7
