Commissioner Rolfe stated that the Commission could remind them that their help is a charitable
contribution.

Vice Chairperson Johns asked for a timeline.

Commissioner Rolfe replied that there would be more specific information at the next meeting.
This issue (organizing a community-built playground task force) should be an agenda item. As
there are so many members missing from this meeting, it needs to be discussed further.

Mr. Boos replied that this issue would become a budget request for the year 1999.

Case/45: Determine Ramsey Resident Article for the July/August Issue

Mr. Boos indicated that the action requested by the Commission is to determine a subject for the
June Ramsey Resident Newsletter.

Vice Chairperson Johns suggested that Alpine Park would be an appropriate subject.

Commissioner LaMere added that a ribbon-cutting ceremony is merited for Alpine Park.

Commissioner Rolfe suggested that, in the newsletter article, mention should also be made
advertising a community-built playground project.

Mr. Boos stated that the next regular Commission meeting would be held at a park different than
tonight's meeting at Central Park. He will not be attending that meeting, but will provide a
detailed drai~ of the CIt'. If an additional meeting is scheduled in July, he will be there, and can
then modify the draft. He asked if he could submit an article to the newsletter suggesting a
ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Commissioner Rolfe asked if Mr. Boos could also advertise the community-built playground
project in the newsletter, separate from his article.

Mr. Boos replied that we need City Council approval prior to any advertising.

Commissioner LaMere asked if City Council could invite the public to the Alpine Park ribbon-
cutting ceremony.

Mr. Boos stated this is a good idea, and the newspaper could take pictures of the event.
COMMISSION/STAFF INPUT

Commissioner LaMere asked about directional signage in Alpine Park.

Mr. Boos agreed that this needs to be completed.
Park and Recreation Commission/June 11, 1998
Page 10 of 11
