CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, February 24, 1998, at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Members Absent: Councilmember Carolyn Beahen <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br />Administrative Services Manager Linda Waite Smith <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br />Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the regular meeting of the City Council to order at 7:04 p.m. and called <br />upon Councilmember Beyer to lead in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION ON SENIOR HOUSING STUDY <br /> <br />Steve Griesert, Community Partners Research, Inc., presented a surmnary of the market study his <br />company did for the City of Ramsey with regard to senior housing. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to accept the <br />report and to direct staff to place this subject on the next Council agenda for discussion. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Beyer, Zimmerman and Haas <br />Steffen. Voting No: None. Absent: CouncilmemberBeahen. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Gary Gruber, 1327 Oak View Way, Anoka, stated that he and his partners have been working <br />with City staff since November to put together a sports bar and grill proposal which will include <br />three softball fields, five volleyball courts, and two broom ball courts. The focus is more on the <br />sports complex that the bar and grill. He stated the reason he is here this evening is because they <br />have entered into a purchase agreement with Mr. James Martin, they have spent about $25,000 <br />on the project already, and they thought they would be on the agenda and, if approved, would be <br />able to start construction in April.
