2) Recommend Authorization to Fill Senior Accountant Position <br /> <br />Ms. Waite Smith pointed out that with the appointment of Diana Lund to the Finance <br />Officer position, the Senior Accountant position becomes vacant. This exempt position <br />works closely with the Finance Officer to administer the Finance Department computer <br />system and prepare the annual audit report, among other duties. The Senior Accountant <br />provides work direction to the Accounting Clerk and the Clerk Typist. The salary range <br />for the position is $30,986 to $41,873. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beahen and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to authorize <br />staff to begin the process to replace the Senior Accountant. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Beahen, Beyer, Haas <br />Steffen and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #15: Report from Finance Committee <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />Receipt of the 1997 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) and <br />Presentation of the Management Report by the Firm of Malloy, Montague, <br />Karnowski, Radosevich & Co., P.A. <br /> <br />Acting Finance Officer Lund stated that the Finance Committee received a report from <br />Mr. Ken Malloy of the City's auditing firm and recommended that Council accept the <br />report and authorize its submittal for excellence in reporting. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to accept the <br />1997 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and authorize the Finance Officer to <br />submit it to the State of Minnesota Department of Revenue and other agencies, as <br />required, and to submit the report with application for the Certificate to the Government <br />Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Beyer, Beahen, Haas <br />Steffen and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />2) Purchase of Pursuit Intervention Devices <br /> <br />Ms. Lund reported that the Finance Committee received information from Police Chief <br />Gustafson relating to the request for a purchase of five pursuit intervention devices. The <br />Committee recommended authorization.
