CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, July 14, 1998, at the Ramsey <br />Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Tomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Carolyn Beahen <br />Councilmember Shelia Beyer <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br />Acting City Administrator Linda Waite Smith <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br />Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br />Finance Director Diana Lund <br />Police Chief David Gustafson <br />Police Chi&Dave Gustafson <br />Fire Chief/Director of Public Works Dean Kapler <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the regular City Council meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. and led the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION: THE FUTURE IS NOW - A PLANNING VIDEO <br /> <br />The presentation of the video entitled "The Future is Now - A Planning Video" was tabled to the <br />next meeting. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Councilmember Haas Steffen announced that the City of Ramsey will be 25 years old in <br />November. She stated that she has been thinking about what can be done for an interesting <br />celebration which could start on a Friday and end on Sunday, culminating in an ecumenical church <br />service. Councilmember Haas Steffen offered the following suggestions: a parade, perhaps <br />starting at the Lord of Life parking lot; a play depicting Ramsey's history; a fair at the City Hall <br />campus, antique auto show, and performance by the quartet which the City Administrator is a part <br />of. Councilmember Haas Steffen reviewed an article detailing the history of Ramsey and <br />suggested that Ramsey should remember they had one of the first black businessman, Dan Law, <br /> <br />City Council/July 14, 1998 <br /> Page 3 of 18 <br /> <br /> <br />
