CITY COUNCIL CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. Members Present: Mayor Thomas Gamec Councilmember Carolyn Beahen Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman Members Absent: Councilmember Sheila Beyer Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen Also Present: City Administrator James E. Norman Finance Officer Diana Lund Police Chief David Gustafson Director of Public Works Dean Kapler Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik City Attorney William Goodrich CALL TO ORDER Mayor Gamec called the regular meeting of the City Council to order at 7:04 p.m. and led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. SPECIAL GUEST Mayor Gamec announced that a special guest was in the audience, Ms. Nanae Kawaguti of Japan, who is staying with Garlan and Nancy Giddings and family through a 4-H program. Ms. Kawaguti, dressed in clothing representing her country, presented a letter, map, etc. to the Mayor and Council from the Mayor of her village. Annie Giddings, daughter of Garlan and Nancy, who were also present, was also dressed in Japanese clothing and was introduced to the audience. PRESENTATION: "NATIONAL NIGHT OUT" Public Safety Aid Laurie Swadner presented the Mayor and Council with an update of what has happened thus far with the National Night Out which is scheduled for Tuesday, August 4, 1998, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. This is the 15th annual "night out", however, it is the first one for Ramsey. She presented facts about the program and invited the Mayor and Council to participate in the festivities and also invited the City Council/July 28, 1998 Page 3 of 17
