CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Carolyn Beahen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br />Finance Officer Diana Lund <br />Police Chief David Gustafson <br />Director of Public Works Dean Kapler <br />Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the regular meeting of the City Council to order at 7:04 p.m. and led <br />in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />SPECIAL GUEST <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec announced that a special guest was in the audience, Ms. Nanae Kawaguti <br />of Japan, who is staying with Garlan and Nancy Giddings and family through a 4-H <br />program. Ms. Kawaguti, dressed in clothing representing her country, presented a letter, <br />map, etc. to the Mayor and Council from the Mayor of her village. Annie Giddings, <br />daughter of Garlan and Nancy, who were also present, was also dressed in Japanese <br />clothing and was introduced to the audience. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION: "NATIONAL NIGHT OUT" <br /> <br />Public Safety Aid Laurie Swadner presented the Mayor and Council with an update of <br />what has happened thus far with the National Night Out which is scheduled for Tuesday, <br />August 4, 1998, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. This is the 15th annual "night out", <br />however, it is the first one for Ramsey. She presented facts about the program and <br />invited the Mayor and Council to participate in the festivities and also invited the <br /> <br />City Council/July 28, 1998 <br /> Page 3 of 17 <br /> <br /> <br />
