Recently, the
neighbors of the park have expressed concern with the number of people driving through
the park from one street to another, often at what is considered to be a high rate of speed.
Closure of the entrance was discussed and the issue was turned over to the Park and
Recreation Commission for a recommendation.

Director of Public Works Kapler stated that the Park and Recreation Commission
recommended closure of the west side of the park with posts and/or landscaping. He
stated that he and Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos talked about this and decided that if
there will be a closure, it should be something that can easily be taken down.

Councilmember Haas Steffen remembered there were some questions about whether
Traprock would continue as a horse park.

City Council/September 22, 1998
