of the Personnel Committee to promote Grant Riemer to the position of Public Street Supervisor. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked about the effective hiring date. <br /> <br />Finance Officer Lund agreed the hiring action is usually effective as of the date of approval <br />which would be the October 14th. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to promote Grant <br />Riemer to the position of Public Works Streets Supervisor, at an annualized salary of $44,034, <br />effective October 14, 1998, and subject to a six-month probationary period. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Haas Steffen noted that it was indicated there would be a <br />90-day review and suggested that review be shared with the Council to keep them updated on <br />how things are proceedings. Mr. Kapler stated he would be happy to provide this information in <br />writing which will be done at a Personnel Committee meeting. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Zimmerman and Haas Steffen. <br />Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmembers Beahen and Beyer. <br /> <br />Mr. Kapler introduced Mr. Riemer who has worked with the Public Works Department for <br />almost 12 years. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec advised that Mr. Riemer is attending school for a Public Works Administrative <br />Certificate. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beahen returned to the meeting. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />Consider Negotiated Proposal Increasing City Contribution to Employee Health <br />Care Coverage <br /> <br />This item was removed from the agenda <br /> <br />Case #9: Report from Finance Committee <br /> <br />1) Authorize Transfer of $5,000 to Fund 25-Year Anniversary <br /> <br />It was noted that the City has designated $15,000 as funding for the City of Ramsey's 25-Year <br />Anniversary. Of this total, $10,000 has been allocated in the 1999 General Fund budget for <br />relevant 1999 expenses. It is anticipated that approximately $5,000 will be expended in 1998, on <br />such items as down payments on tents, chairs, etc. Ms. Lund stated the $5,000 that is requested <br />for 1998 was not included in the 1998 adopted budget. A transfer from the contingency fund, in <br />this amount, will need to be made. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Haas Steffen and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to <br />authorize staff to transfer $5,000 from the contingency fund to fund any prepaid expenses of the <br /> <br />City Council/October 13, 1998 <br /> Page 20 of 22 <br /> <br /> <br />
