October 16, 1998

Dear Council Member6,

Many of the surrounding residents nea~ the St. Anthony Gun
Club attended the informal meeting at City Ha]] on October
15, 1998 concerning the ever increasing noise problem in the
area. After much discussion by our group and other
neighborhood groups and individuals at the meeting, a
recommendation was made by several people to at least close
the area known as the"Five Stand". This area is in the
woods approximately eight hundred feet from the southern
border of the Gun Club and from Traprock Street. From these
stands, costumers shoot sporting clays primarily in a
easterly direction which then affects the neighbors to the
east.

Mr. Bauer ultimately agreed to close the "Five Stand" area
in two weeks and keep it closed through the spring of 1999
as a trial, to determine if that would resolve the noise
issue. If not, it sounds like he may open that area back up
again.

This type of solution seems very tentative and lacks any
control whatsoever by the City or itzs residents. The
surrounding community deserves more than lip service and
half promises. It has been there and has done that. Now,
as in the past, the Gun Club is regulated by no one. It
does as it pleases. It answers to nobody. The city council
needs to grow and keep pace with the times in this ever
Growing City we call Ramsey.

We are asking at this time, for the City Councel to address
this issue by requiring the Gun Club to obtain a conditional
use permit as would be required by anyone else in the City
of Ramsey.

Thank You. We await your response.

Address
