<br />for the city administrator position. In addition to the position profile, the City Council discussed <br />salary and benefits for the city administrator position. The City Council was advised by staff <br />that certain benefits are standard regardless of position; however, most benefits are negotiated <br />once a candidate has been offered the position. Staff presented Council with comparative salary <br />information or target and peer communities as identified in the Organizational Study; cities of <br />similar size or larger, and Ramsey department head positions. Based on the comparative salary <br />information provided by staff and the City's desire to attract and retain the best qualified <br />applicant, at the March 13th work session staff recommended that the maximum annual salary for <br />the city administrator position be increased from $110,269 to $120,000. The City Council <br />directed staff to proceed with formally increasing the maximum annual salary for the city <br />administrator position to $120,000, which falls below Minnesota's 2007 salary cap of$139,817. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked if car allowance would be included under the salary cap. <br /> <br />Interim City Administrator Nelson replied the salary cap would not include car allowance; it <br />would include deferred compensation. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated the Personnel Committee recommended approval of the <br />recommended salary range. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Jeffrey, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Personnel Committee in Case No.2 to adopt Resolution #07-03-084 <br />which establishes a new salary range for the city administrator position. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Jeffrey, Olson, Elvig, Look, and <br />Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Dehen. <br /> <br />3) Public Sarety Board Interviews <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated the Personnel Committee interviewed two candidates for the <br />Public Safety Board vacancy tonight: Mr. Al Pearson and Mr. Brian Kowalzek. The <br />recommendation of the Personnel Committee is that Mr. Al Pearson be appointed to the Public <br />Safety Board. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Jeffrey, seconded by Councilmember Strommen, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Personnel Committee in Case No.3 to adopt Resolution #07-03-085 <br />appointing Al Pearson to the Public Safety Board. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Jeffrey, Strommen, Elvig, Look, <br />and Olson. Voting No: None.
