The Finance Committee recommended approval of the projects; the cost of each project
are listed in the cases.

Mayor Gamec noted the $30,000 allocated to Sunfish Lake Park is for a concept plan with an
idea for future development. He questioned whether it would be more important to have
additional activities put into place with these funds. He noted the need for blacktop for
rollerblading and roller skating at Central Park.

Councilmember Strommen stated she agrees it is inlportant to balance needs and activities, but
there are needs in the Sunfish Lake area. Getting the park developed along Sunfish Lake was a
promise that was made to the residents with the Village of Sunfish Lakes, and park dedication
fees were dedicated from that development to this park. Residents have been asking about the
status of the park, and there is a need to begin moving on a concept for the park.

Councilmember Elvig stated the Mayor's point is well taken. He likes to see the activities and
would like to see an extreme park. He pointed out the Sunfish Lake area park is different than
most. The Finance Committee discussed possibilities such as fishing and paddle boats and other
opportunities for this park.

Mayor Gamec suggested staff look into the cost of utilizing the City's paving machine to pave
the skate park.

Parks Supervisor Riverblood indicated the Park and Recreation Commission is making a lot of
progress on the planning for the skate park and information will be presented at the April Public
Works Committee meeting.

Councilmember Elvig stated funds for the park projects will come from park dedication funds,
the Park Improvement Trust Fund, the Lawful Gambling Fund, and the Municipal Water Utility
Fund.

Motion by Councilmember Strommen, seconded by Councilmember Elvig, to ratify the
recommendation of the Finance Committee in Case Nos. 1 and 2 and to approve the 2007 CIP,
beginning park planning for the Sunfish Lake area at a not to exceed amount of $30,000 from the
Park Trust Fund, and to approve the 2007 Park CIP, in the amounts and funding sources
presented in Case No.2.

Motion carried.
