<br />9.12.05 Temporary Signs. The following are the only type of temporary signs <br />permitted in any district unless other types are specifically allowed in the individual <br />zoning districts. <br /> <br />Subdivision 1. . Grand Openings and Public Events, Portable <br />Signs, . Balloons, Gas Filled Figures, Streamers, Whirling Devices and Revolvi~g <br />Searchligl1ts or any such sign resembling the same, are prohibited from use within the <br />city except for public events, or when used as an integral part of the design of a building, <br />or grand openings (the initial commencement of business). In the case of grand openings <br />. or public events, whirling devices, streamers and revolving searchlights shall be allowed <br />for the week only of said public event or grand opening; portable signs and balloons shall <br />be allowed for up to thirty (30) days surrounding the public event or grand opening. <br /> <br />Subd~ 2.- Political Signs posted by a candidate for political office, or <br />by.a person or group promoting. a political issue or a political candidate may be placed in <br />. any district. Political signs are limited to thirty-two (32) square. feet in area and such <br />signs shall be removed within seven (7) days following the election. <br /> <br />Subd. 3. Garage Sale and Craft Sale Signs. Advertising and <br />directional garage ,and craft sale signs are limited to six (6) square feet and shall be of the <br />free-standing type only. Garage and craft sale signs shall be placed on private property <br />only and shall have the property owner's permission. All such sale signs shall be <br />removed within twenty-four (24) hours after the completion of the sale. A fixed fee, as . <br />established by City Council, per sign not removed within 24 hours following the <br />completion of the sale will be charged and said charges will be'used to defray the cost of <br />removal by the City. Garage and craft sale signs shall identify the dates of the sale, <br />name, address and telephone number of the sign owner. <br /> <br />Subd. 4. Construction Signs identifying the parties involved in the <br />construction to occur or occurring.on the parcel maybe installed upon a construction site <br />in any district, provided such sign does not exceed eighty (80) square feet in commercial, <br />industrial and multi-family districts and six (6) square feet in single family residential <br />districts. There shall not be more than one (1) temporary construction sign for each <br />project or development, except that where a project or development abuts two (2) or more <br />streets, additional such signs,. one (1) oriented to each abutting street, shall be permitted. <br />Temporary construction signs shall be located only upon the legally described parcel on <br />the building permit. Temporary construction signs are exempt from the permit and fee <br />requirements but shall be allowed only as accessory to an approved building permit for a <br />- project or development. Temporary construction signs may be erected and maintained <br />for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days prior to the commencement of construction and <br />shall be removed within fourteen (14) days of the issuance of the certificate of <br />occupancy. A fixed fee, as established by City Council, per sign not removed within the <br />fourteen (14) days will be charged and said charges will be used to defray the cost of <br />removal by the City. . <br /> <br />Subd. 5. <br /> <br />Real Estate Signs <br />
