Breakfast to help gather some outside input for nominees. Due to the late Business Connection
Meeting this year it may be too late to utilize this process for nominations.

The Board discussed the timing of obtaining input for nominees at the Business Connection
Meeting.

Consensus of the EDA was to incorporate the process of collecting nominations for the 2007
Business of the Year into the Business Connection Meeting.

Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan indicated he will prepare a spread sheet of
pertinent information about the possible nominees.

Member Kiefer inquired what type of business Paradise Roasters is. Economic Development
Consultant Mulrooney replied it is a small business in Dennis Sharp's building that is getting
national recognition as a coffee roaster business selling over the internet. The business is based
in Ramsey and they are Ramsey residents. There is a similar company in Florida that has done
extremely well selling custom roasted coffer over the internet. This company roasts and ships
the same day.

Chairperson Riley commented it sounds like a good business, but he wonders how it fits with the
Business of the Year guidelines.

Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan indicated Board members can provide him with
names they would like to see added to potenti8:1 candidates.

Member Schindel expressed his preference that organizations be included in the consideration of
Business of the Year nominees. He stated there are some organizations that truly make
contributions to the City, whether they are monetary or not. He noted the Ramsey Lions
contribute over ~ million dollars every year. He suggested a special mention for the
organization of the year.

Member Kiefer noted the EDA has discussed a second award that would include volunteer or
nonprofit organizations.

Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan indicated the recommendation was brought before
this body on whether there should be an additional award, and the consensus of the group was
against that. Consideration of having another award would need to be visited by the Board
again. He indicated invitations to the Business Connection Meeting will include a statement that
Business of the Year nominations will be accepted, and will include the criteria for the award.

Case #5:

2007 Ramsey Business Appreciation Day Planning

Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan indicated staff recommends selecting The Links at
Northfork and Well's Catering to be the chosen venue and caterer for the Business Appreciation
Day Event. Staff also recommends selecting August 14, 2007 as the date for the 2007 Business
Appreciation Day and to remit the required deposit of $250.00 for the event.

Economic Development Authority/March 8, 2007
Page 8 of9
