Mr. Feges replied that the City received an $800,000 grant to assist with the construction of <br />Sunwood Drive in addition to contributing MSA funds for other roads within the Town Center, <br />which are all funds that save the developer money. <br /> <br />Mr. Jacobson stated that money is an important issue, but the bigger issue is the time fi'ame for <br />moving fo~wvard with the project. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak replied that money is a concern because the City does not have money to <br />throw around. <br /> <br />Mr. Jacobson stated that the process of approval and moving forward with the project is more <br />critical. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated that it was his understanding that the developer has offered a <br />reduction in the land cost to the Charter School because the developer feels it is very important <br />for the Town Center to include a community school. <br /> <br />Mr. Feges replied that in addition to the reduction in the land cost they have also found other <br />funding options to reduce their costs as well. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen inquired if they were at a point in the process where they could <br />discuss possible businesses that may be part of the Town Center; at a point where they can <br />update who might be coming on board. <br /> <br />Mr. Feges reviewed some educational interests in the area, and explained that they are currently <br />in serious negotiations with Allina to be a key component of the Town Center. In addition, they <br />have five major commercial developers hiring architects to show what they would like to do in <br />the Town Center as well as letters of intent for housing. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak inquired if the City and Ramsey Town Center, LLC were on the same <br />page in terms of design guidelines. <br /> <br />Principal Planner Trudgeon replied yes. <br /> <br />Councihnember Zimmerman inquired if there was an estimated cost for constructing the <br />overflow to the river. <br /> <br />Principal City Engineer Olson explained that the estimated cost was $630,000 when they were <br />looking at piping the entire overflow, but there will be enough trunk fees generated to handle <br />surface water, water and sewer. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman noted that one of the biggest reasons the community has embraced <br />the project is the services that will be provided. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated that another commodity Ramsey needs to come up with is staff.
