He stated one of the' issues is that there is some concern with the alignment of the intersection with Highway 10 be at a perpendicular angle rather than what exists there now, He stated this was not the major concern with MN/Dot. He stated MN/Dot's letter mentions a closure, or all.. access points between. Ramsey and Sunfish and they talked about this with them and MN/Dot is not going to push. closing these roads. City Engineer Jankowski stated MN/Dot made the comment that any intersection south of Highway 10 should occu? no closer 'than 500 hundred to 660 feet south of the highway, which is difficult for the developer because they only own 350 feet South. He stated they talked with MN/Dot about this and the rationale behind this is primarilY not the alignment of the kink that bothers them, it is ultimately having intersections in clOse proximity of each other and motorists traveling through this would need to make decisions for both interSections at the same time. City Engineer Jankowski showed a map of the proposed, road and discUssed the two Options. Chairperson Nixt asked if all of this involved Anoka County. ' City Engineer Jankowski stated the most desirable woUld involve Anoka County and they need to have a meeting with. Anoka County to find Out What their deskes are. City Engineer J'ankowski stated, they have talked about .it this aRernoon and they have a proposal they could mn by the Planning Commission. Chairperson Nixt stated this particular configuration is' troublesome to him. He asked which road would preempt there, Riverdale or Rarnsey Boulevard. He stated this seems to be a problematic design~ City Engineer Jankowski stated when they start to think about how traffic is going to get into the commercial development but they have to keep in mind that Riverdale is part of a frontage system and the City has a plan for a frontage system.to take traffic off of HighwaY 10. Associate Planner Watd stated one of the ideas they had was to include an outlot 'for the portion of Riverdale Drive that started at the last townhouse unit and continued north for the Preliminary plat. The Developer would then go to the City Council with a final plat for Lots 8,. 9, and 10.: At such time the Developer, Anoka County, and the City works out an alignment for Riverdale Drive, the Applicant would final, plat the remaining, portion of the townhouse project. She .showed a map of the area and discussed the proposal with the Commissionl · Mr. Dave Schulte stated they have. had numerous discussionS' with Ramsey staff and Anoka County and it isa difficult situation because MN/Dot is in the process of updating the-interseCtion in 2004.
