-356- <br /> <br /> I <br />Advocacy · Partnerships · Information <br /> <br />The AllianCe: A Respected Leader at the Capitol <br /> Our Legislative Program Makes a Difference <br /> <br />As a coalition builder, the Alliance: <br />· Represents the largest and broadest umbrella organization for transPortation in the state; <br />· Coordinates legislative efforts with local units of gover.nment and public agencies to develop policies and <br /> programs'that advance transportation investments such as the LocaJ'Bridge Bonding Program;. <br />· Coordinates legislative activity with business, industry and other associations with a transportation agenda; <br />· Organizes coalitions and corridor groups throughoutMinnesota to promote critical tronspartatian Projects.. <br /> <br />As a recognized leader'in transportation policy, the Alliance: ~ <br /> <br />· Develops and presents to.the Legislature: a detailed transportation platform with policy re-commendations as <br />well as a comprehensive capital investment program for all transportation modes; <br />· Presents to the Legislature a variety of legislative and administrative initiatives in conjunction with government <br />and tTanspori'ation industry associations that promote increased investments in ITonsportation infrastructure; <br />· Provides research, briefing papers and analysis on the needs, and status of the state's transportation system; <br />· DistrJJ]utes the most comprehensive, timely and Concise legislative reporting' service focused on ffonsporto- <br />finn policy and funding. <br /> <br />With our philosophy stressing a variety of. programs and ·strategies to achieve results, the <br />Alliance has successfully lobbied ~Cor: <br />· A Major. Transportation Projects Commission to address significant'tra.nsportatJon projects needed in the state; <br />· A Transportation Revolving Loan Fund to provide additional flexibility in the use of highway funds to address <br /> changing needs; <br />· A' Local Road. Improvement. Program to deal with emerging needs on local rood systems. <br />· Additional one:time state.funding af over $&O0 million outside.the Highway Trust Fund; <br />· On-going.funding for the Local Bridge Program in state bonding funds with over $70 million ii, vested to date; <br />· Increases in state funding for all. modes of transportation including tro.nsit, ports; and rail. <br /> <br /> We keep our members up-to-date on .tt~e latest action with: <br /> * Legislative updates that provide insight and analysis an transportation developments <br /> · Schedules. of committee action at the legislature dealing with transportatio,n <br /> .
