-96- <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook replied that the development is being done as a planned unit development <br />and they are already giving variances on other issues so why not give a variance on the private <br />street. <br /> <br />Councilmember ElVig recommended that they consider allOWing a Private street within, the <br />cottage home area, <br /> <br />Mr. Kangas n°ted'that the change from a private street to a public street came from the Planning <br />Commission discussion. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that he could agree with the private street through the cOttage homes, but <br />keeping the roads through the remainder of the development at 32 feet. <br /> <br />Principal Planner Trudgeon inquired if the CoUncil woUld be PropoSing a 32-foot wide private <br />street through the cottage homes withoUt the right of way. <br /> <br />There was a general consensus of the Council to allow for a private drive for the cottage homes <br />at the 32-foot width. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated that. if the City is going to allow for the iprivate street the <br />homeowners association language needs to be strong relating to snowploWing and parking on the <br />street. <br /> <br />Mr. HarrisOn stated that they would like to make the main thoroughfare of the development 16 <br />feet wide on either side of the median with no parking. <br /> <br />DireCtor of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler replied that staff asSUmed that there was going to be <br />parking on one side, but would be comfortable with the 16-foot width with no parking. <br /> <br />Mr. Harrison inquired if the connection to Tungsten Street was going to be required. <br /> <br />Consensus of the CoUncil was to require the Tungsten Street connection. <br /> <br />Mr. Kangas inquired if the development is under the four units per acre would the buffering still <br />be required. <br /> <br />principal Planner Trudgeon replied yes. <br /> <br />Mn Kangas stated that' they are working on meeting the intention of the density transition <br />ordinance. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />City Council/January 21, 2003 <br /> Page 8 of 9 <br /> <br /> ! <br /> <br /> I <br />.I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> :l' <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I, <br /> <br />! <br />! <br /> <br />! <br />I <br /> <br /> <br />
