<br />CASE # <br /> <br />b <br /> <br />AWARD BIDS FOR 2007 PAVEMENT MAINTENANCE PROGRAM <br />By: Steven J. Jankowski, City Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On April 24, 2007 the City Council authorized the 2007 Pavement Maintenance Program. <br />Bids were opened on Friday, June 8,2007. Attached to this case is a complete tabulation <br />of bids received. The low bid <br />received on Divisio B which includes a bituminous overlay on 5.46 miles of street was <br />21 % lower than th9 feasibility study estimate.. Recall that the estimated unit prices were <br />increased 25 % over the 2006 bid price to cover the uncertainty in the. price of oil. Also <br />recall that the Counpil had wished to consider an alternative to the practice of shouldering <br />bituminous overlayed projects entirely with class 2 which is represented by the base bid <br />for Division B. The Alternate Division B bid above represents the cost of .shouldering <br />only the intersectior radii and curves with class 2 and the remainder of the project with <br />topsoil seed, and mulch as was done previous to the 2003 program. The cost of the <br />alternate shouldering proposal by the low base bidder is about $4100 more than the base <br />bid which is slightly more than 1 % of the project cost. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that Council adopt Resolution 07-06-XXX awarding Division A of the <br />2007 Street Maintenance Program to Allied Blacktop Company in the amount of <br /> <br />-119- <br />
