The inspections will then be followed up with a letter to all affected sites describing what
improvements need to occur and by what date. A logical question might be: "what are
the consequences for failure to bring sites into compliance?" Failure to comply would
result in the issuance of a citation arid forwarding the matter to the City Attorney for legal
action. However, the City Council is more interested in cooperative efforts rather than
adversarial roles between the City and the local business community. The Council hopes
that these issues can be handled in a friendly, non-threatening manner.

Overall, the trial inspection program along the Highway # 1 0 corridor' in 2006 was
successful and the City intends to continue the program. Most properties were either in
complianc~ 9r willing to 'Work with the City to improve their sites. The City appreciates
the effort of the local business owners to improve the image of the front door to the
community. Now, the City looks forward to continuing to work with all property owners
in the commercial and industrial districts to keep that momentum going and strengthen
Ramsey's appeal as a place to shop'and work.

City Staff realizes that this is a lot of information to convey in one letter. If you have any
questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at 763-433-9846 or email at
sfrolik@ci.ramsey.mn.us.

Sincerely,

Sylvia Frolik
Asst. Community Development Director
