I I I I I I I I I I I I I i I I I I Pc# q ACCEPT RESIGNATION OF BUILDING OFFICIAL AND APPOINT AN INTERIM BUILDING OFFICIAL By: Givonna Reed, Interim Human Resources Manager Background Effective May 6, 2003, Mr. Glyn Huffresigned from his position as Building Official for the City of Ramsey. Staff is recommending that Mr. Huffs resignation be accepted. Minnesota Statutes require that cities appoint a new Building Official within 15 days of a vacancy. In order to meet this deadline, staff has met with three companies that provide inspections' services on a contract basis. Services provided would include leadership in the areas of staff development and guidance, residential and commercial code compliance, plan review, and inspections. The consensus among staff is that Inspectron, Inc. best meets the needs of the City at this time. Staff Recommendation Staff recommends that Glyn Huffs resignation be accepted. Staff further recommends that Ron Wasmund of Inspectron, Inc be designated as the City's Building Official for an interim period of six months beginning May 14, 2003. The rate of compensation will be $65 per hour for approximately 20 hours per week. Committee Action: Motion to recommend that the City Council accept Glyn Huffs resignation from his position as Building Official for the City of Ramsey effective May 6, 2003. Motion to recommend that the_City Council authorize City Administrator, Jim Norman, to enter into an agreement With Inspectron, Inc. for inspections services for a period of six months beginning May 14, 2003. The rate of compensation to Inspectron, Inc. will be $65 per hour for approximately 20 hours per week. o Motion to recommend that the City Council appoint Ron Wasmund as the City's Building Official.
