PC CASE <br /> <br />AUTHORIZE HIRING OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER <br /> By: Heidi Nelson, Assistant City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />At its Regular Meeting of January 14, 2003, City Council accepted the resignation of <br />Patrick Leadens from the fulltime position of Human Resource Manager and authorized a <br />recruitment process to fill the vacant position. A recruitment process was conducted with <br />the assistance of Labor Relations and Associates, as authorized by City Council on <br />February 11th, 2003. <br /> <br />Applications were reviewed by Labor Relations and Associates and ten candidates were <br />interviewed by the Assistant City Administrator, the Fire Chief/Pubic Works Director, <br />and the Police Chief. Second interviews were conducted by the City Administrator and <br />the Asst. City Administrator. Based on the City Administrator's and the panel's review, <br />staff is recommending hiring Givonna Reed for the position of Human Resource <br />Manager. Ms. Reed has been serving in as the Interim HR Manager since late February. <br />Ms. Reed has quickly become familiar with the Human Resources operation of the City <br />and has been a wonderful resource for employees and management staff. Staff looks <br />forward to working with Ms. Reed. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff is recommending Givonna Reed for the position of full-time Human Resource <br />Manger at a starting annual wage of $63,186 plus benefits and will accrue three weeks of <br />vacation per year. Ms. Reed's hiring is contingent on successful completion of <br />background checks and passing an employment physical and drug/alcohol screen.
