Board Member Bentz asked if anyone had heard from Board Member Hustvedt, Jr. about <br />the wetland buffer book. <br />Coordinator Anderson stated that he had pulled the agenda item from tonight's meeting <br />because the agenda was full. He stated that Board Member Hustvedt, Jr. is still open to <br />receiving comments. Coordinator Anderson requested that he put together whatever he <br />had for the January meeting. He stated that will be one of the agenda items for January. <br />Chairperson McDilda asked Coordinator Anderson to send out an e -mail to Board <br />Member Hustvedt, Jr. reminding him of the January 8 meeting. <br />Board Member Bentz suggested putting a line item in the book as to where to receive the <br />exemption for the WCA <br />Coordinator Anderson stated that he didn't think that should be highlighted in the book. <br />Board Member Bentz suggested that he was looking for unbiased reading material. <br />Coordinator Anderson stated that he would take direction from the EPB. <br />Chairperson McDilda stated that could be brought up with the review of the wetland <br />buffer book. <br />Board Member Max stated that most people are not researching public trees. <br />Coordinator Anderson asked if most other communities have in -house crews that do all <br />the maintenance of public trees. <br />Board Member Max stated it is all over the board. Mankato has a city forester. Roseville <br />has a part-time forester and crews. <br />Coordinator Anderson stated he was curious about some of the Metro suburbs. <br />Coordinator Anderson stated that the city is in the infancy of doing something like that. <br />He stated that it has only been recently that the city has allowed plantings in the <br />parkways. He stated that ten years from now it will be necessary for maintenance. <br />Board Member Max stated he will provide data about what other cities are doing. <br />Members of the board recognized Environmental Specialist Bacon for his involvement on <br />the EPB. <br />Environmental Specialist Bacon stated that he has been encouraged to sit with his fellow <br />citizens from Ramsey on the board. <br />Environmental Policy Board/ December 4, 2006 <br />Page 18 of 19 <br />
