brainstorming session to revisit the five-year goals. It was a two-day event with a facilitator. He
. stated there will be some revisions to the strategic plan.

POLICY BOARD BUSINESS

Case #1:

Environmental Expo 2007

Coordinator Anderson presented a summary of the situation. He stated there are several options
to be considered. The City has hosted a tree sale and Environmental Expo traditionally on the
first Saturday in May. He stated there is a Ramsey3 visioning forum scheduled to take place at
the same date as the tree sale.

He listed several options for consideration regarding the 2007 Environmental Expo. One option
is to host a tree sale only, possibly sometime in mid-April. The second option is to host an Expo
event only, at some other time of the year. The third option is to take a one-year hiatus from
hosting an Environmental Expo and resume in 2008.

Board Member Max stated the tree sale has been going on for a lot of years. He stated that he
liked to see the news coverage for an annual sale. He suggested keeping the momentum for
continuity of years sake.

.

Coordinator Anderson stated that he had a call from Ms. Henke Ramsey resident, inquiring about
the status of the tree sale this year. When he explained that there was uncertainty about
participating again because the tree sale is a lot of work, Ms. Henke conveyed to him that while
weather had a part in poor turnout last year, only two tree nursery vendors participated. She told
Coordinator Anderson that she and her husband are contemplating removing themselves from the
event.

Mr. Bacon stated that Lowell Blom of Mapleleaf Nursery was also there last year. He
acknowledged there may not be a big interest this year.

Coordinator Anderson asked if Mr. Bacon had seen a downslide in vendor participation over the
last couple of years.

Mr. Bacon stated that last year was slow but it didn't seem that previous years were as low.

Mr. Mark Anderson stated that he has noticed a downturn of vendors over the years. He stated it
seemed that initially there were some nice tree prices as an incentive to draw a crowd. The last
two years, he hasn't noticed any price incentive to attend. He stated the presentations have not
been as exciting or well attended. He stated that parking has been an issue over the last few
years. He stated that low attendance could be anticipated without good reason to attend.

Chairperson McDilda asked what the down side of not doing an Expo or tree sale this year might
be.

.

Board Member Bentz expressed concern that the tree sale and Expo would lose momentum.

Environmental Policy Board!
