<br />Councilmember Dehen noted with the additional 15 feet to the curb there will potentially be an <br />additional 65 feet of property. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig indicated his calculations would be closer to 25 to 30 of additional property. <br />He appreciates Mr. Hendrickson's statements that when they moved here they never thought <br />there would be a road put in. He explained there are problems in Ramsey with access and <br />connections. <br /> <br />Mr. Hendricl(son stated there should be some compensation to help ease the burden of <br />maintaining the additional property. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig asked if there is extra value for a corner lot in relation to Mr. Hendricl(son's <br />tax concerns. <br /> <br />Councilmember Olson indicated the marl(et value is higher; she is not aware of the tax impact. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen asked if Mr. Hendrickson does not want the additional land due to the <br />maintenance issues. <br /> <br />Mr. Hendrickson stated this puts him in a quandary. If this road goes through he would want as <br />much buffer between his kids playing back there and the road as possible. Trees take time to <br />grow and a basl(etball will still go over a fence; there will still be the potential of someone <br />getting around that and a l(id running into the road. It only tal(es once for a tragedy to happen. <br />They have a lot of l(ids that play back there. He would say if the road has to go through he <br />would want as much of a buffer as possible to keep his liability down and the l(ids as safe as they <br />can be. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig suggested the possibility of Mr. Hendricl(son's fence being located along the <br />property line with shrubs along the border and the City maintaining the buffer. <br /> <br />Mr. Hendrickson expressed concerns regarding the aesthetics of a fence in the middle of the area. <br /> <br />City Engineer Janl(owsl(i indicated based on his calculations he has determined that the width of <br />Mr. Hendricl(son's property goes from 82 feet in the front to 95 in the bacl(. The additional <br />property would be close to 30 or 35 feet plus the additional 15 feet of buffer. Mr. Janl(owski <br />stated in the letter sent to he residents he indicated this would be considered at the Council <br />meeting next Tuesday. Staffs recommendation is that the Committee recommend to the City <br />Council that the two contingencies regarding the appraisal supporting the offered purchase price <br />and the traffic study being favorable to the Neon Street connection have been satisfied. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig suggested findings of fact be included with this case when it is presented to <br />Council. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen pointed out the City notified the neighborhood that may have concerns <br />about this road going through. Mr. Hendricl(son has expressed some concerns, and he believes <br />the Committee has placated or understands his concerns.
