<br />COMMISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns requested changing the order ofthe cases as noted. <br /> <br />Case #2: <br /> <br />Concept Planning for Municipal Property West of Sunfish Lake <br /> <br />ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood stated the purpose of this case is to apprise the <br />Commission on the timing and next steps for the concept planning for the City owned land west <br />of Sunfish Lake. Council did authorize staff to send out Request for Proposal's, which has been <br />done. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns stated they should take into consideration the active park across the road and <br />would like this to be a more passive type park. <br /> <br />Jay Bergevin, 14520 Sunfish Lake Road NW, asked about the time frame, what type of park is <br />being proposed and how much the City owns. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns asked if Mr. Bergevin would like to see more of a playground type park. <br /> <br />Mr. Bergevin stated he'd like to see passive use with the ability to access and explore the lake, <br />maybe even a fishing dock. <br /> <br />ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood stated a playground is being considered and this is <br />considered a Natural Environment Lake so certain setbacks and requirements would be required. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns asked if would be restricted from canoes and paddleboats. <br /> <br />Commissioner aIds stated some ability to utilize the wetland buffer. <br /> <br />ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood stated they have to be careful not to make it into a <br />swimming type beach, stating it would be a non-motorized type park. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns thanked Mr. Bergevin for his input and suggested he spread the word. <br /> <br />Case #3: <br /> <br />Skate Park Planning - Discuss Youth Involvement <br /> <br />ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood noted at the Commission's April meeting, the planning <br />process for the Skate Park proposed for 2008 within the Parks Capital hnprovement Program <br />continued. He reviewed the planning tasks with the Commission. <br /> <br />Kristin Harrington, 8287 - 194 Lane, stated she is in favor of the skate park and would like to see <br />"Bowls" included in the park accessories. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns asked Ms. Harrington which school she attended. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission/May 10, 2007 <br />Page 2 of5 <br />
