Recommendation: Staff is concerned that granting the request to construct an additional 9,840 square feet of accessory structure space will negatively impact the surrounding properties and the residential nature of the neighborhood. While the site is bordered by street on three sides, it is situated on the edge of a residential neighborhood. Despite the assertion that the applicant is not conducting any.type of business from the property at this time, the construction of a total of 17,244 square feet of garage space significantly increases the likelihood that business will be conducted in these buildings into the future. Therefore, Staff is not recommending approval of the CUP for an additional 9,840 square feet of accessory structure space. The Planning Commission met on June 7, 2007 and recommended that the City Council approve the request for an 11,244 square foot overage to the current city code restrictions. The primary reasoning was the desire to enclose equipment and trailers. The size of the property, the rural character of the area, and its relatively isolated location were also factors in the recommendation to approve the request. Funding Source: There is no City expenditure associated with the request. Council Action: Motion to adopt Findings of Fact # relating to Jeffrey Sigler's request for a conditional use permit; -and- Motion to approve Jeffrey Sigler's request for a conditional use permit for an 11, 980 square foot overage, and adopt a resolution declaring terms of the same. -or- Motion to deny Mr. Sigler's request for a conditional use permit, based on the findings of fact.
