Mr. Jeffrey Sigler, applicant, stated his trailers all sit outside, and this would be a perfect
place to contain them so that everything would be inside.
Chairperson Nixt asked what Mr. Sigler does professionally.
Mr. Sigler replied he is a general contractor.
Chairperson Nixt inquired about the equipment that is currently outside.
Mr. Sigler replied it is personal equipment.
Chairperson Nixt asked if there is any intent of the applicant to fabricate his own trusses
or do any cabinetry in this building.
Mr. Sigler replied he has subcontractors that make things in their factories and bring it
onto the site. He does not build prefab structures or anything like that.
Chairperson Nixt asked if Mr. Sigler is familiar with what is necessary for a home
occupation permit.
Mr. Sigler replied yes; he offices out of his pick -up truck and cell phone.
Chairperson Nixt asked if the applicant feels the proposed accessory addition is excessive
for what he has proposed to store.
Mr. Sigler replied he wants to be able to get inside and maneuver around the trailers. He
will not have to change much of his fencing or driveway with the way he has calculated
the structure. The things that will go inside are sitting outside now.
Commissioner Van Scoy inquired about the horses on the property.
Mr. Sigler stated he has four recreational quarter horses for leisure riding; nothing
competitive.
Chairperson Nixt verified with Mr. Sigler that he does not lease space for other horses to
be boarded.
Commissioner Van Scoy noted there was a comment in the staff report about the
potential to negatively impact surrounding properties and the residential nature of the
neighborhood. However, this property is zoned Rural Developing. He drove out and
looked at the site, an d it looks about as rural as will be seen in Ramsey. There was a lot
of separation between the houses on the other side of the road and a lot of open space.
Associate Planner Dalnes noted the property is very well screened from Baugh Street.
-192-
