Case #1 !: Report from Personnel Committee 1) Recommendation for Police Chief Selection Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Haas Steffen to appoint David Gustafson to the position of Police Chief, effective April 1997, at a salary of $56,303, with wage consideration January 1, 1998, and a probationary period of one year with a performance review done in September 1997, and March 1998, and that a work plan be presented to Council by the end of the 1998 budget preparation period. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Beyer, Haas Steffen, Beahen and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. 2) Recommend Hiring Gregory Sullivan as Patrol Officer Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Haas Steffen to authorize hiring Gregory Sullivan as a Patrol Officer at an annual salary of $31,021, contingent on his successfully passing background checks, a physical examination and a psychological examination. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Beyer, Haas Steffen, Beahen and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. 3) End Probationary Period of Receptionist Jo Ann Krejca Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Haas Steffen to adopt Resolution #97-04-073 ending the probationary period for Receptionist Jo Ann Krejca and granting her the status of regular, full-time City employee, effective April 15, 1997. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Beyer, Haas Steffen, Beahen and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. MAYOR AND COUNCIL INPUT 1) Congratulations to David Gustafson Mayor Gamec, on behalf of the Council, extended congratulations to David Gustafson on being appointed Police Chief for the City of Ramsey. Mr. Gustafson stated he accepts the job and the responsibility.
