CASE # 1

REQUEST FOR AN INTERIM USE PERMIT TO ALLOW FOR
A TEMPORARY WELL HOUSE
CASE OF CITY OF RAMSEY PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
By: , Tim Gladhill, Management Intern

Background:

The Ramsey Public Works Department Utilities Division has submitted an application for an Interim
Use Permit (IUP) to place a temporary well house on the same parcel as Fire Station #1. A Well
House is needed for chemical feed for Wells 7 & 8.

The following items are enclosed for your review:

a) Site location map
b) Site Layout
c) Sample Elevations
d) Proposed Findings of Fact
e) Proposed Interim Use Permit

Notification:

State law requires notification to properties within 350 feet of the boundaries of the subject property
and property owners within that radius were notified.

Observations:

The City of Ramsey Public Works Utilities Division has applied for an IUP to install a temporary
well house. A larger water treatment plant is planned for the adjacent property, and all operations of
this proposed temporary well house can be incorporated into the new water treatment plant upon
construction of such facility.

This temporary well house is proposed to be constructed of wood frame construction as opposed to
block walls. The change in building materials reflects a significant cost savings due the temporary
nature of this structure.

The proposed location of the temporary well house meets and/or exceeds the minimum required
setbacks for the Public/Quasi Public District.

The timeframe for construction of the proposed future water treatment plant is not known at this
point. The maximum duration of an Interim Use Permit is five (5) years from the date of approval,
unless otherwise approved by the City Council.

Funding Source:

Funding for review will be paid from an escrow set up paid for by the applicant. Funding to construct
the antenna will be paid for by the applicant.

Recommendation:
