CASE # 5 RECEIVE BIDS AND AWARD CONTRACT FOR IMPROVEMENT PROJECT #06-22, RAMSEY TOWN CENTER CITY PHASE 2 SEGMENT 2 . By: Leonard Linton, Civil Engineer II Background: Improvement Project #06-22 consists of bituminous surfacing, drainage improvements, sanitary sewer, watermain and miscellaneous improvements to segments of Civic Center Drive and Rhinestone Street which are located south of Sun wood Drive. Authorization to advertise for bids was ordered on June 12, 2005, and bids were opened on Thursday, July 19, 2007. The City is responsible for constructing these street segments under the terms of the Ramsey Town Center Master Development Agreement. The streets would not be constructed until development agreements are completed for adjacent properties. The City has received development applications for Medical Examiners office and Crestview housing projects. Both projects will receive access from the segment of Rhinestone Street to be constructed The Medical Examiners office has received preliminary plat approval and they are working on their final plat submittal. The county has submitted a non-binding letter stating the project will be constructed. Ten (10) bids were received and ranged from $323,518.55 to $397,976.50. Contracting Dave Perkins Contracting Engineers Estimate: Amount of Bid $323,518.55 $341,929.28 $343,378.54 $344,085.91 $352,819.10 $366,144.14 $375,351.19 $387,218.78 $390,482.14 $397,976.50 $370,634.50 Funding Source: The funding source is improvement bonds paid back from the RTC Special Assessments. Recommendation: A letter of recommendation from Hakanson Anderson Associates, the consulting engineer for the project is attached along with a Resolution supporting the recomendation. -205-
