<br />RESOLUTION #07-07-XXX <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY FOR 2008 <br />PARTICIPATION IN THE SAFE AND SOBER COMMUNITIES PROGRAM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police. Department has in previous years participated in <br />the Minnesota Safe and Sober Project, receiving grant money for the education and <br />enforcement of DWI, Speed, and Seatbelt laws. In order to do this, the City of Ramsey <br />has entered into contractual agreements with the State of Minnesota to receive grant <br />money. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police Department would like to participate in the 2008 <br />Safe and Sober Campaign. A grant is being prepared by the Coon Rapids Police <br />Department of which the Ramsey Police Department would participate with as a partner. <br />If awarded the grant, all the police departments involved would receive sufficient funding <br />to cover officer overtime expenses to participate in the required Safe and Sober wave <br />sessions. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota is requiring a resolution from Council <br />authorizing the execution of an agreement with the Department of Public Safety for the <br />2007 participating in project SAFE AND SOBER COMMUNITIES to commence <br />October 1,2007 through September 30,2008. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1. That the Ramsey Police Department enter into a grant agreement with the <br />Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety, for the <br />project entitled SAFE & SOBER COMMUNITIES during the period from <br />October 1,2007 through September 30, 2008. <br /> <br />2. That the Ramsey Chief of Police is hereby authorized to execute <br />such agreements and amendments as are necessary to implement the project <br />on behalf of the Ramsey Police Department in cooperation with the Anoka <br />County Sheriff's Department. <br /> <br />The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by <br />Councilmember <br /> <br />, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor <br /> <br />thereof: <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br /> <br />-74- <br />
